OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST RAISES THE SON OF THE WIDOW OF NAIN FROM THE DEAD

This is a very compassionate lesson.  So let us now try to understand it:

1.The Vesper Gospel talks about jusice given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2. The Matin Gospel speaks about the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

3. The Pauline Epistle talks about the treasures given to the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

4. The Catholic Epistle speaks about speaks about how the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ preserves the Word of Life.

5. The Acts of the Apostles talks about the effect of converting people into Believers.

6. The Gospel speaks about blessing of life that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ grants to those souls that He:

a. purified

b. attracted to Him

c. drove demons away from

As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was passing through the City of Nain:

1. He saw a large funeral procession passing by.

2. Then He saw a lady standing off to side, crying.  She was the Widow of Nain.

3. This poor lady had suffered not just one tragedy, but a triple tragedy:

a. She had previously lost her husband.

b. Now she has lost her only son.

c. So she has no one to look after her.  You see, in those days:

(1) There was no social services

(a) no unemployment insurance

(b) no welfare

(2) Women were not allowed to work.

4. This poor woman was as good as dead.

When our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ saw the dire situation that Widow of Nain was in:

1. He told her not to cry

2. Then He went over to the coffin.

3. Then He touched the coffin.

4. Then our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ told the Son of the Widow of Nain to rise.

5. The Son of the Widow of Nain, then arose out of his coffin.

6. Then our Lord and Savior Jesus Chirist gave the son back to his mother.

This is a great miracle performed by our Lord andSavior Jesus Christ, in which:

a. not only the Son of the Widow of Nain was saved

b.but also the Widow of Nain herself

We as Christians are many times often like either:

1. the Son of the Widow of Nain

2. or the Widow of Naim

We are either:

1. spiritually dead

2. or suffering from trials and tribulations

Then our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comes into our life, and saves us.  Please understand this very powerful lesson.

Melkem Maskel!

Melkem Maskel!

Melkem Maskel!

This is a very beautiful and very profound lesson. So let us try to understand the great depth of its meaning to Christianity:

1. Timket also known as the Epiphany is called:

a. the shining forth

b. or the manifestaion of God

c. the baptism of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

St John the Baptist baptized our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the River Jordan.  This brings out a very interesting point:

1. When our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born, this was viewed only by a few privileged people:

a. St Joseph and the Virgin Mary

b. and the Three Wise Men

2. However the baptism of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was witnessed:

a. by St John the Baptist and his disciples

b. and by the crowds

Timket consists of two aspects:

1. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ showed a gret deal of humility in allowing Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist

2. The divine witness that God The Father and The Holy Spirit bear to The Son.

During Timket, two solemn testimonies were given to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:

1. the testimony of St John the Baptist

2. the divine testimony of God The Father, and The Holy Spirit:

a. God The Father wasthe voice that came down from heaven.  "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I Am well pleased."

b. The Holy Spirit descended on the head of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, like a dove.

Let us be humble, like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Please understand this very valuable lesson.
