SERMONETTE
PARABLE OF THE SOWER (PARTI)
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has given us another blessing. Today's lesson is so dynamic and profound, that it has to divided into two parts. So let us try to understand the depth of its meaning:
1. The Vesper Gospel speaks about the secret fruit of the Gospel.
2. The Matin Gospel talks about the glorious Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
3. The Pauline Epistle speaks about the material rewards of the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that should be given by the Believers.
4. The Catholic Epistle tells the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ not to become a stumbling block to the Believers, through their teachings.
5. The Acts of the Apostles speaks about the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Believers, through the teachings of the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
6. The Gospel talks about Fruit of the Gospel.
Now let us begin:
1. The Sower is God
2. The Seed represents the Word of God.
3. It is God, Who casts the Seeds.
God sows the Seeds in three different areas:
1. on rocks-These are people who rapidly trust, but give up as soon as they are exposed to temptation.
2. on thorns-These are people who believe, but they arespiritually suffocated by:
a. the sins of the world
b. and riches and pleasures
3. on good earth-These are the people who receive the Word of God:
a. with a sincere heart
b. and cling to it patiently
We as Christians should try to be like third example, and not like the first and second. Please understand this very valuable lesson.
Melkem Medhane Alem!
Melkem Medhane Alem!
Melkem Medhane Alem!
This is a very beautiful and very profound lesson. So let us try to understand the great depth of its meaning to Christianity:
1. Timket also known as the Epiphany is called:
a. the shining forth
b. or the manifestaion of God
c. the baptism of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
St John the Baptist baptized our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the River Jordan. This brings out a very interesting point:
1. When our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born, this was viewed only by a few privileged people:
a. St Joseph and the Virgin Mary
b. and the Three Wise Men
2. However the baptism of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was witnessed:
a. by St John the Baptist and his disciples
b. and by the crowds
Timket consists of two aspects:
1. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ showed a gret deal of humility in allowing Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist
2. The divine witness that God The Father and The Holy Spirit bear to The Son.
During Timket, two solemn testimonies were given to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
1. the testimony of St John the Baptist
2. the divine testimony of God The Father, and The Holy Spirit:
a. God The Father wasthe voice that came down from heaven. "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I Am well pleased."
b. The Holy Spirit descended on the head of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, like a dove.
Let us be humble, like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please understand this very valuable lesson.
