"PRINCES SHALL COME OUT OF EGYPT, ETHIOPIA SHALL STRETCH FORTH HER HANDS UNTO GOD"
This great prophesy has, is, and will be fulfilled. Although the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was first founded by St Phillip when he baptised the Ethiopian eunich, the first archbishop wasn't sent til 325 ad by the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church. In 1921, a man by the name of Ras Tefari was coronated as His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie. This act created a lot of attention in the Western Hemisphere, amongst people of African descent. When the Italians invaded Ethiopia in 1937, His Imperial Majesty sent his nephew Dr. Melaku Bayan to the United States, to form and organise the Ethiopian World Federation. This organization was very successfull in raising money for the war effort. During this time, the late pastor and congressman Adam Clayton Powell allowed the Ethiopian World Federation to hold meetings in the basement of the Abyssinian Baptist Church. These were very exciting times for people of African descent in the Western Hemisphere. It seemed like everyone wanted to join the war effort. The Ethiopian World Federation had many chapters throughout the United States. There were also chapters in the following countries:

1. Great Britain
2. France
3. Jamaica
4. Cuba
5. Trinidad and Tobago
6. Guyana
7. Brazil
8. Indonesia

In fact, Cuba was willing to send 75 of its best nurses to Ethiopia to help in the war effort. People of African descent donated generously to the war effort. Finally the Italian forces were expelled, and His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie victoriously retook the throne in 1941. His Majesty almost immediatly showed His gratitude by granting 500 acres of land in Ethiopia to the Ethiopian World Federation. This land was named Sheshamane. However once His Majesty was put back on the throne, many people felt that the Ethiopian World Federation had now served its purpose. As a result, the Ethiopian World Federation was desolved. In 1954 His Majesty visited the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, after attending a session at the United Nations in New York. He came down 7th Avenue in a motorcade. This street was lined on both sides. People had been waiting on line for hours to see their Black King. When His Majesty arrived at the famous Abyssinian Baptist Church, He was greeted royally. He was met by the distinguished Reverend Adam Clayton Powell Jr, who was the senior pastor and Chairman of the powerful Education and Labor Committee of the United States House of Representatives. At this event His Majesty:

1. knighted Reverend Adam Clayton Powell, by giving him a gold medallion.
2. gave the Abysinnian Baptist Church a very large coptic cross, which is proudly displayed on their altar to this very day.

After the Ethiopian World Federation was desolved, some of the former members decided decided to ask the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church and His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie to send the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to the Western Hemisphere. The Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria suggested that the members contact the newly installed Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Abune Basilios. This was done. His Holiness Abune Basilios met with the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to discuss this issue in great detail. By just 1 vote, the Holy Synod decided to send the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to the Western Hemisphere in the form of a mission. At that time, they decided to establish 2 diocese in the Western Hemisphere:

1. North America
2. Caribbean Area

In 1952, His Holiness Abune Basilios along with His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie sent 5 priests to New York city to establish the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in the Western Hemisphere. One of those priests later became the present Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in the Western Hemisphere and Southern Africa-His Eminence Abune Yesehaq:

1. A request was made.
2. A promise was made.
3. A promise was kept.

Later in 1952, the Assistant Patriarch His Beatitude Abune Theophilos came to review the Ethiopian Orthodox Church Mission in the Western Hemisphere. He was well received. During this time, His Holiness Abune Basilios had become legally blind. In 1971, His Holiness Abune Basilios departed to Heaven. In 1972, His Beatitude Abune Theophilos was elected Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. He was then coronated Patriarch by 3 bishops from the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria. Soon after his coronation, His Holiness Abune Theophilos did the following:

1. elevated the status of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere from a mission to an archdiocese

2. appointed the first ethiopian orthodox archbishop for the Western Hemisphere-Abune Athanasius

Prior to that His Holiness Abune Theophilos had appointed His Eminence Mor Jesus Samuel Archbishop of the Syrian Orthodox Church in the Western Hemisphere, to act on his behalf in the Western Hemisphere. In 1973, the Ethiopian Revolution began. As a result Ethiopians fled to the Western Hemisphere in droves. After the passing of Abune Athanasius, His Eminence Abune Yesehaq was appointed Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere. It is the responsibity of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere and Southern Africa to fulfill the Prophesy of Ezekiel-"The Valley Of Dry Bones."

THE PROPHESY OF EZEKIEL
"THE VALLEY OF DRY BONES"

I felt the powerful presence of th Lord, and His spirit took me and set me down in a valley where the ground was covered with bones. He led me all around the valley, and I could see that there were very many bones and that they were very dry. He said to me, ""Mortal man, can these bones come back to life?" I replied, "Sovereign Lord, only you can answer that!" He said, "Prophesy to the bones. Tell these dry bones to listen to the word of the Lord. Tell them that I, the Sovereign Lord, am saying to them: I am going to put breath into you and bring you back to life. I will give you sinews and muscles, and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you and bring you back to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord." So I prophesied as I had been told. While I was speaking, I heard a rattling noise, and the bone began to join together. While I watched, the bones were covered with sinews and muscles, and then with skin. But there was no breath in the bodies. God said to me, "Mortal man, prophesy to the wind. Tell the wind that the Sovereign Lord commands it to come from every direction, to breathe into dead bodies, and to bring them back to life." So I prophesied as I had been told. Breath entered the bodies, and they came to life and stood up. There were enough of them to form an army. God said to me, Mortal man, the people of Israel are like these bones. They say that they are dried up, without any hope and with no future. So prophesy to my people Israel and tell them that I, the Sovereign Lord, am going to open their graves. I am going to take them out and bring them back to the land of Israel. When I open the graves where my people are buried and bring them out, they will know that I am the Lord. I will put my breath in them, bring them back to life, and let them live in their own land. Then they will know that I am the Lord. I have promised that I would do this-and I will. I, the Lord, have spoken.-Ezek 37:1-14
